How to help wounded Heflin police officer Jackie Stovall
News

Fellow officers are helping to raise money for a Heflin police officer who was wounded in the line of duty last week.

Heflin officer Jackie Stovall was shot and wounded in the line of duty during a chase Saturday in Oxford.

The chase arose from a triple murder in Cleburne County and eventually ended when the gunman was shot to death by an Oxford Police Tactical Unit.

The Prayers for Officer Jackie Stovall Facebook page indicates the officer is still recovering, but is in some pain. The hospital says he's in stable condition.

The Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 79 has started a fund for Stovall and his wife at Smalltown Bank in Heflin. FOP officials say the fund is needed because workman's comp only pays two-thirds of an officer's salary. All of the money will go to officer Stovall.

To donate, send money to:

The Oxford Police Department said on their Facebook page they are also accepting donations for the Stovall family. Donations can be dropped off at the administration window in the department's lobby.
