Environmental group calls Talladega National Forest "endangered"
The Southern Environmental Law Center (SELC) has called the Talladega National Forest "endangered."
The group released its list of the most endangered places in the Southeast. The Talladega National Forest tops that list. The SELC says there's increased pressure to drill for natural gas in the area, using the controversial "fracking" technique.
The federal government announced plans to auction off leases last year, but then postponed that action until more public hearing could be held.
