Semi-nude woman attacks Heflin city clerk

A partially nude woman attacked the Heflin City Clerk inside a storage facility building around 10 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, according to Heflin Police.

A release from Chief of Police Jerry W. Waldrop outlined the bizarre attack. According to the release, Heflin's city clerk, Terri Daulton, was inside a storage facility located across from the Heflin Police Department Thursday night. The storage facility houses pets that are waiting to be adopted, and Daulton, who has served as Heflin's City Clerk since 2004, was in the facility feeding the animals when she was attacked.

Police say around 10 p.m., a white female, nude from the waist up, entered the storage facility from an outside door, turned off the lights and attacked Daulton. The city clerk managed to escape with minor injuries after the brief struggle and called police. Heflin police officers arrested the semi-nude female at the scene. She has been identified as Anita Henderson Harris, 44, of Winfield. Police have not determined a motive in the attack.

Harris has been charged with third degree assault, third degree burglary, third degree criminal mischief and resisting arrest.
