Photo Gallery | Slideshow: Strong voter turnout across Alabama
The polls have been open since 7 a.m. and based on the photos FOX6 News has received, there has been a strong turnout across our viewing area.
Viewers at the Irondale Senior Center have reported a three hour wait to vote and another viewer reported that he waited three hours to vote at the Bobby Miller Activity Center in Tuscaloosa.
The crowds seem to support Alabama Secretary of State Beth Chapman's expectations for Tuesday. Earlier this week she told the Associated Press that she expected 72 to 74 percent of Alabama's 2.8 million voters to come out Tuesday. That could beat the turnout for the 2008 election when 73.8 percent of voters participated.
